Broos Names Lyle Foster, Lepasa, 21 Others for South Africa’s Friendlies vs Eswatini, Ivory Coast

The head coach of the South African national football team, Hugo Broos, has announced his final squad ahead of the forthcoming friendly matches against Eswatini and Ivory Coast.

Bafana Bafana will take on Ewatini on October 13 and then take on the Elephants of Ivory Coast four days later.

The coach had named an initial 36-man preliminary squad for the international friendlies, but he has now cut down the selection to 23.

His side is unbeaten in their last nine games, winning six matches and registering three draws.

The matches are organised for the squad in preparation for their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against the Republic of Benin and Rwanda in November.

The tactician confirmed that Thapelo Morena, Bathusi Aubaa,s and Innocent Maela will not be part of the matches due to injuries.

Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates left-back Paseka Mako, who was not even in the preliminary squad, received a first call-up, News 24 reports.

Hugo Broos hails Lebo Mothiba

Sports Brief earlier reported that Broos named the Bafana Bafana player who brings something different to his team.

The former Cameroon manager claimed that Racing Strasbourg striker, Lebo Mothiba brings something different to Bafana Bafana.

The Belgian added that the friendly games against Namibia and DR Congo were an avenue to test players, and Mothiba showed why he was named in the squad.
